Team of the Decade - 2010-2019

Apr 13th 5:28PM

We are proud to be able to announce the team of the decade for the Roxburgh Park Football Club for the years 2010-2019.

This period saw us contesting games in Division 1 and Division 2, with Grand Final appearances in 2014, 2016 and 2018 before finally achieving the ultimate goal of a premiership in 2018. Each of these players played an integral part in the club over this period and must have played for a minimum of two seasons. The selection committee also took into account longevity, League and Club best and fairest results, times named in the best, goals kicked, finals played and overall contribution to the club.

Once the Covid-19 issues are behind us we intend to hold a function at the club to honour those named in this side.

This weekend the Roxburgh Village Shopping Centre is holding it's Village Festival on Saturday and Sunday and we at the club are proud to have been invited to be part of this wonderful community celebration.

We'd love as many of you as possible to come down and help celebrate at our stall that will be located outside of club sponsor Anytime Fitness. We will have the handball target and players/committee members down to spread the word in the community about the great things happening at our club.

The Village Festival runs from 11am-4pm Saturday and Sunday and we'd love to see all of the Magpie family get involved by wearing your club gear and footy jumpers down and joining in the action.

Ladies and Gents, we are extremely excited to announce the new Reserves Coach at the Magpies Nest - Kaine Hocking!!

Many of you will already know Kaine from the Essendon District Football League podcast and as a weekly special comments man on match days.

What you might not know about Kaine is that he was an assistant coach at Northern Saints in 2017 where the side reached a prelim final, and was reserves coach at Coburg Districts in 2015/16 where the Reserves won the Grand Final in his first season as coach.

Kaine is looking to bring the best out of the younger players and to get the Reserves back to winning ways after a tough first season in Division 1 in 2019.

Please join us in welcoming Kaine to the club!

EDFL Awards Night

Sep 30th 2:17PM

Congratulations to Harley Short, Michael Farrelly and Rainbow Ebert who were all ivited to the EDFL awards night

Rainbow finished in te Top 5 for the League in her first season back at the club after completely dominating our club Best and Fairest count

Harley was Joint Runner Up in the Division 1 League Best and Fairest following our promotion to Division 1. Harley showed he's clearly not out of his depth at any level and continues to excel for the side

Finally, Michael was named as the coach of the year, an extraordinary effort when you consider the fact its his first season in the division and only his second year at the club. His fellow coaches obviously thought a lot of his coaching and the way his side presented in order to honour him with this award

Rainbow and Harley were also named in their respective teams of the year, along with youngster Shelby Best who was named with Rainbow in the Womens Div. 1 team of the year

Congrats to all on a magnificent season
